Dorothy Provine was one heck of a lethal lady in The Bonnie Parker Story (see a preceding post), and Holliday Grainger turned in her own terrific performance in the 2013 TV-film version. But however inaccurate, it’s the classic Arthur Penn-Warren Beatty 1967 film version most folks tend to remember, and I don’t suppose there’ll ever be a more poignant performance than Faye Dunaway’s fashion model anti-hero version of that deadly south Texas outlaw, and here she is in an onset shot with mirror, hairbrush, revolver and loot bag in hand.
It’s one of my favorite performances in all of cinema. Faye brought it, hard.
